Focus on Gratitude

When you have one of those days where everything seems to go wrong, it’s just best to sit back, relax and spend some time to focus on gratitude.  Gratitude and frustration cannot co-exist and you’ll find that the things that seem so significant in the moment, really are quite insignificant.

I’ve had the type of day that would normally have my head stirring with stress caused by a series of controllable and uncontrollable events.  It serves me no purpose to focus on things I cannot control, so rather than release more cortisol into my blood stream and reap all the wonderful side effects of stress (sarcasm intended), I’m going to focus on how I can turn the events of today into a positive experience.


I am a runner

I  AM A RUNNER. I am not a jogger.  I always wanted to run.  I wanted to like to run.  I wanted to be the girl that would say on a whim “I’m going out for a run.”  It sounded so sexy.  But I wasn’t a runner. And nobody wants to be called a walker. I could crush the heck out of a step aerobics class and own a spin class as soon I entered the room.

But I had that nagging, inferior… lust to be that girl that galloped on the treadmill and bedazzled those around her. Instead, my first attempts at the treadmill were less than glamorous.  I couldn’t imagine how anyone could possibly enjoy this, much less run on that thing hands-free and NOT fall flat on one’s face.  I wanted to run.  But dare I say it? Running was NOT fun.

I have not been in this good of shape since I completed basic training in 1993, and I am making better decisions on nutrition than I ever have in my life. Shakeology Testimonial

30-Day Shakeology Challenge Results

susan taylorI was invited to join Rhonda’s 30-day Shakeology Challenge in December 2011. I was a little skeptical at first because I thought the cost was a little high. I also wondered how one shake could replace an entire meal.  I chose the chocolate flavor because chocolate is a daily part of my life. I was pleasantly surprised with the first taste. It was rich, creamy, and satisfied my chocolate craving. The shake also left me feeling very full. My usual second breakfast hunger pains diminished. My goal during the challenge was not to lose weight.  I was simply trying to avoid the typical holiday gain. I couldn’t believe that I ended up losing 2.5 pounds.

Once the challenge ended, I decided to keep ordering Shakeology. The cost is worth every penny. It averages to about $4.50 a day. That is less expensive than having breakfast or lunch out. The shakes also provide a crazy amount of nutrients. It’s a lot more than I was getting with my previous breakfast choices.

It’s been over a year since I started Shakeology. I have continued to maintain my weight and I love the energy it gives me. I look forward to my Shake every day. It’s quick and easy to make. There are so many ways to mix it, but my go to blend is Chocolate + almond milk  + 1/2 banana.
