You cannot out-exercise bad nutrition

I have always had a deep love for fitness.  It’s a part of me.  It’s who I am.  I never (okay, rarely) struggle with motivation to work out.  I’ve run five marathons and completed several fitness achievements, but I have ALWAYS struggled with my weight.  It wasn’t until I took a deep and honest look into my nutrition habits, that I began to see changes in my body.

Ironically, the more I would workout, the more I seemed to gain. Of course I used the excuse that muscle weighs more than fat, which is hysterical, because one pound = one pound.  I’m not sure why that has become such a common excuse.  I get it.  Muscle is more compact.  I was not becoming more compact.  Quite the contrary.

It wasn’t until May 2010, when I made a 60-day commitment to Beachbody’s Insanity workout, that I committed to my nutrition as well.  The program came with the most awesome Nutrition Guide that I still use as my benchmark today.  It gave me a formula to calculate how many calories MY body needed and what I needed to subtract from that daily total to lose the weight…and ultimately inches.  My number was 1800.

  • I ate five mini meals throughout the day.  Instead of having an apple for a morning snack, I added calories.  Yes, I ADDED calories.  I ate on average, 300 calories at each mini meal.  I never got hungry and it started to fuel my metabolism.

    My favorite Greek salad!

  • I cut out the crap!  I was shocked and actually pretty embarrassed when I realized how many calories of complete junk I was putting in my coffee in the morning.  I drink it black now with a little bit of sweetener.
  • I drank a lot of water.
  • I stopped the senseless, unconscious snacking throughout the day.
  • I relied on the Nutrition Guide for meal ideas that incorporated complete protein, healthy fats and complex carbohydrates at every meal so my body felt satisfied.

My results?  I lost 12 pounds in 60 days!  ME!  The girl who NEVER loses weight!  I lost two inches off my waist and went down a full pants size.  I would say those are the kind of results attributed to not just an awesome workout, but having accountability to the amount and types of foods I ate.

Shakeology made a dramatic difference in my diet

In September 2010, I was introduced to Shakeology!  My only regret is that I wasn’t drinking it while I completed my first round of Insanity.  This was the perfect answer to the plateau I had hit after Insanity. I gained an incredible amount of energy while fueling my body with the best possible nutrition on a daily basis.  I noticed my stomach was never bloated and I felt very clean.  The 70+ Superfoods in Shakeology were benefiting me in the best possible way.

Today, I am a FIRM believer in not being able to out-exercise bad nutrition.  It’s become my Motivation Rhonda motto.  To truly be successful in weight loss, it must be the full spectrum of exercise, nutrition and accountability.

Shakeology is the one of the easiest and fastest way to begin to incorporate good nutrition into your body on a daily basis.  It takes 30 seconds to make, but your results will be limitless.
